On July 7 and 8, the leaders of the world’s most powerful states will meet at the G20 summit in Hamburg.

The USA’s Donald Trump, China’s Xi Jinping, the UK’s Theresa May, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and the host German Chancellor Angela Merkel, will all be there to defend the economic and military interests of their ruling classes.

Each and every one of them deserves their own protest. Collectively and individually these leaders of the “international community” are responsible for crimes against humanity and against our planet.

Workers, refugees, religious and ethnic minorities; all have been the victims of a world system which defends the wealth and privilege of the capitalists against the needs of millions.

The counter-demonstration will assemble tens of thousands not only from across Germany, but from all over Europe and the world beyond.

Red Flag will be there there, alongside members of the League for the Fifth International’s European sections and the international socialist youth organisation REVOLUTION.

As the Tory government rides a rising tide of patriotism and xenophobia in its efforts to sever Britain’s links with Europe and tie us ever closer to Donald Trump’s racist and militaristic regime, it is all the more important for socialists and labour movement activists to deepen our links of solidarity with our class sisters and brothers abroad.

Hamburg will not only be a chance to demonstrate and take direct action alongside tens of thousands of others, but to discuss and debate unity and common action with activists drawn from every front of the class struggle in Europe and beyond.

We appeal to socialists in and outside the Labour Party, campaigners for migrant and refugee rights, women’s and youth organisations, to come together to plan the biggest presence possible from Britain – the best way to show our enemies and friends that the attacks we face only encourage our determination to strengthen the bonds of international working class solidarity and cooperation.

The protests and assemblies will include

Further plans are being prepared at an international preparatory meeting in Hamburg in April.

Red Flag will continue to report on developments.
