Workers Power respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.
Who we are

Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, subscription and payment history, communication preferences, and information you send us when you contact, join or support Workers Power. If you subscribe to a print publication, we use your shipping address to fulfil it.
When you use our website we may also receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, and information collected through cookies or analytics tools.
Political opinions and trade union membership are classed as special-category personal data. Where our relationship with you reveals or involves such information, we process it only where data protection law permits us to do so, including where necessary for the legitimate activities of a not-for-profit political organisation in relation to its members and regular contacts, or where you have given explicit consent.
How we use your information
- to process subscriptions, purchases and supporter payments;
- to deliver print publications and manage your account;
- to send newsletters or other communications you have asked to receive;
- to respond to enquiries and administer membership or supporter relationships;
- to maintain financial and administrative records, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations; and
- to understand and improve our website, publications and communications.
Our lawful bases depend on the purpose. They include performance of a contract, consent, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in running and developing Workers Power and its publications. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Payments, newsletters and service providers
Payments made through our website are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. Stripe may process information needed to take payments, manage subscriptions, prevent fraud and meet its legal obligations.
Our email newsletter is provided through Substack. We may also use website hosting, analytics, email and other service providers that process personal information on our behalf. We only share information where it is necessary for the service being provided or where we are legally required to do so.
Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards required by applicable data protection law and on the provider’s own data-transfer arrangements.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including any legal, accounting or record-keeping requirements. Subscription and supporter records may be kept while your relationship with us continues and for a reasonable period afterwards. If you opt out of marketing, we may keep a minimal suppression record so that we do not contact you again.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to receive certain information in a portable form. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent.
