Workers Power is a revolutionary communist organisation in Britain. We have branches in several cities, with members active in workplaces, trade unions, student organisations and campaigns.
We fight for working-class power and international socialism. Our aim is to help build a revolutionary party rooted in the working class, capable of bringing different struggles together in a common fight against capitalism.
Our members take part in strikes and campaigns for jobs, pay, housing and public services, and against racism, oppression and war. We work alongside others around shared aims, while arguing for workers to control their own struggles and retain their political independence.
We publish the Workers Power magazine and this website, as well as books and pamphlets through our publishing house, Prinkipo. We hold public meetings, organise political education and run an annual summer camp.
Workers produce society’s wealth, but capitalists control how it is used. We want to replace private ownership and the rule of profit with democratic working-class control of the economy and society.
We fight for immediate improvements in people’s lives while seeking to strengthen working-class organisation, solidarity and political independence. Our aim is to link these struggles to the fight for socialism, rather than treating each campaign or dispute as an isolated battle.
Our members debate and decide the organisation’s politics, elect its leadership and carry out agreed decisions collectively.
Workers Power emerged from the International Socialists in the mid-1970s and began publishing its newspaper in 1978. Our members have helped establish broader movements including Anti-Fascist Action, No Sweat and the National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts, which played an important role in the 2010 student movement.
Workers Power is part of the International Socialist League, which is a project regrouping revolutionary socialist organisations across several continents.
We oppose British imperialism and its rival capitalist powers, and stand for solidarity between workers and oppressed peoples internationally. Socialism is an international project, and building a revolutionary international is central to our politics.
